Gelyflow-Ca: protector solar – Arvensis Agro s.a.
La luz solar, aunque es esencial para la fotosíntesis y el crecimiento de las plantas, en ciertas épocas del año puede resultar dañina en cuanto a la radiación ultravioleta (UV) e infrarroja (IR) que forman parte de la radiación solar. Estas radiaciones no son visibles para el ojo humano, pero pueden ocasionar daños visibles en diversos cultivos, así como estrés térmico. En la actualidad, sabemos que el estrés solar es una amenaza grave para el valor de los cultivos, y se ha demostrado que puede ocasionar pérdidas del rendimiento comercial en el orden del 8% hasta llegar, en casos extremos, al 50%.
Según el cultivo, los efectos negativos pueden incluir daño celular superficial, decoloración, deshidratación e incluso una reducción de la calidad de la fruta (es decir, su firmeza, color y jugo). Sin importar el tipo de daño, el estrés solar puede reducir drásticamente la calidad y obstaculizar el potencial de rendimiento.
Para evitar esto, en Arvensis hemos desarrollado una formulación especial llamada GELYFLOW-Ca, que es una suspensión concentrada de partículas minerales blancas de un tamaño medio inferior a los 5 mm, lo cual le confiere unas propiedades físico-químicas únicas para este tipo de aplicaciones foliares. Gracias a esto, una vez se mezcla con agua y se rocía directamente la mezcla sobre las superficies de las plantas, tras secarse, se forma una película con millones de «prismas» microscópicos que reflejan la radiación ultravioleta (UV) e infrarroja (IR) dañinas actuando de espejos, sin bloquear los estomas de la hoja (por lo tanto no impide la fotosíntesis). Las propiedades reflectantes de GELYFLOW-Ca protegen la fruta del daño por insolación directa y ayudan a prevenir el estrés por calor en todo el follaje del cultivo. Mantiene las plantas más frías, cuando la temperatura ambiente es extrema, reduce el estrés y permite al cultivo mantener su tasa fotosintética normal. Cuando se usa GELYFLOW-Ca en períodos de alta intensidad de luz y temperaturas extremas, los cultivos tienen la protección solar necesaria para alcanzar mejor su potencial y el uso de los recursos hídricos disponibles de manera más eficiente.
El proceso de protección solar sería equivalente a las cremas solares que usamos en verano para protegernos de la radiación solar, pero diseñada especialmente para su uso foliar en plantas. Se podría representar el mecanismo de acción de la siguiente manera:
