SAPONIT vs MINERAL OIL: 

Quality of application/Leaves vitality and sanity (Green life)/Phytotoxicity

DATE:  February 21, 2019 (week: 08)

PLACE: San Antonio de Machala, Province of El Oro (Ecuador)

Objetive:

Checking the physical condition of the leaves, phytotoxicity, wear and Green Life (freshness)

In addition, parameters of dispersion, penetration and runoff are determined.

Treatments

In addition, an unwanted precipitation  is simulated 10 minutes after application:

  •  Water was applied again to great discharge on all the leaves.
  • Droplet formation and runoff were evaluated.

Results (2 y 18 hours after application)

SAPONIT-

 

High Green Life 2 and 18 hours, leaf almost intact, fresh and hydrated. After Unwanted Precipitation: Negligible oil runoff, with enlarged vision: zero droplet formation and great uniformity is observed.


MINERAL OIL-


The leaf treated with the mixture of water + emulsifier + mineral oil showed severe physical wear and phytotoxicity at 2 and 18 hours.

His green life was drastically decreased presenting high dehydration.

After unwanted precipitation:

High oil runoff, analyzed with enlarged vision showed no uniformity and high droplet formation 


WATER (CONTROL)-


The leaf treated only with water (control) showed wear, dehydration and reduced green life.


Conclussions

1. Saponit preserves the freshness and physical state of the leaf in general since it has a film-laminar effect that protects the leaf surface

2. Saponit protects Active Ingredients from the effect of external agents such as rain and UV rays.

3. Saponit improves the penetration, dispersion and protection of fungicide active ingredients.
